 i'm a soon-to-be-cool winner!

i've made the appointment. i'm getting my car's air conditioning fixed on wednesday.

as i was finishing up the conversation with my friendly mechanic this morning, he thanked me for referring customers to his shop. there's one customer in particular he thanked me for... one woman who, i suspect, he may have eyes for.

he said he always gives discounts to people like me who give good referrals. but he said that, because of this woman, i'll be getting an 'extra big discount' on my A/C repair.

hmm. that's good news for me. but i know this woman isn't really romantically interested in the mechanic. i feel kinda weird about this.

i suppose i should just take the discount and let the two of them work out whatever needs to be worked out, and not worry about it.

but enough about that... look! at the bottom of the page! i'm a winner!! i'll have a new hairdo soon! i've never ever won anything before, and now i've won a hair makeover!! i'm so excited i could just pee.

Hmmmm...the romantic mechanic. An interesting situation, but not one that you need to worry about at all. Except to give the woman a head's up, of course.

And good for you, curly girl!

dude, that is so freakin' cool about the makeover!

wow, that is awesome! both about the a/c and the makeover! a free hairstyle from a TV stylist!! when is he coming?

pinky-
the woman knows about the mechanic. they've been out for coffee once, and though she thinks he's nifty there's someone else in her romantic picture. she had the opportunity to set him straight today, and i think things are going to be ok between them.

sarah-
i'm not sure when the hair makeover will be. i'm supposed to hear back from them in the next couple of days the dates when antonio can travel (!!)

if the date we settle on works for you, and you want to come watch, you can!

Can I watch too? I'll give you five dollars!*

Not that you need an excuse for a party, but the hair thing sounds like a great basis for a party, with special guest stylist from out of town!

Do you get to pick what direction the makeover takes? Or is it at the whim of the stylist? I've always been enchanted by the idea of having someone else tell me what hairstyle would be best for me, but deep down I'm a big chicken. Good luck!

take the discount, and introduce the mechanic to ME! hehehe :)

HAIR PARTY!!

Posted by: lisa at July 20, 2004 12:48 PM

we're working on that, lisa. ;-)

and lainey... i don't have that much hair to start with, so it'll be interesting to see what his ideas are. i also have alopecia, which will limit how short he can cut it.

maybe he'll just fuss at it for a few minutes & leave.

shit! i ALWAYS send people to OUR mechanic. i have given them THOUSANDS of dollars in business. one time i asked if i could get a break on an oil change since they had just put in my new engine and they said no. fuckers. (am i allowed to cuss on your blog?)

i think i forgot to put my name on that last post. it was i, charo.

jeebus-- even my "soulless" vw dealership (they're far from soulless, in reality; i say that because most folks think dealerships are more soulless than indie mechanics) gives me a break every dang time i go in there, in part because i bought my car there and in part because i've also spent thousands there.

My mechanic (Hawkins Auto care on Hillsborough Rd) also cuts me a lot of breaks. Whenever I take them a big job I try to ask them to do something small "while they're at it" because they usually do it for cheap/free.

I've had only good experiences with Hawkins Auto Care. Of course, the mechanics don't turn me on very much, but they seem to know their stuff and are very reasonably priced compared to other car shops.
